Season Opening Monday Night Football Best Bets Favor NY Jets

The first Monday Night Football game of the season is tonight and the New York Jets will face the Buffalo Bills in one of the most anticipated games of the season.

The 2023 NFL season is finally here, and that means it’s time to cash some NFL bets. The first Monday Night Football game of the season features the Buffalo Bills at the new-look New York Jets in what should be an entertaining quarterback matchup between Josh Allen and Aaron Rodgers.

Joe Buck, Troy Aikman, Lisa Salters, and John Parry will reunite for another season of Monday Night Football, serving as the frontliners for ESPN. This marks their second consecutive year working together as a team. Notably, Buck and Aikman’s tenure at ESPN also celebrates a remarkable milestone as they enter their 22nd consecutive year in the broadcasting booth together. Salters, on the other hand, embarks on her impressive 12th season as a member of the MNF crew, holding the record for the most seasons served by a sideline reporter in the franchise’s history spanning over 50 years. Additionally, John Parry will make his return for the fourth consecutive season, providing expert analysis as a former official and offering valuable insights into live referee decisions.

Below, you’ll see a betting breakdown with expert NFL picks from the BetQL Editorial Team, sleeper picks to consider as well as some epic sportsbook promotions to cash in on.

Take Jets to Pull Off Upset

Dan Karpuc: Jets ML (+112, BetRivers)

This Jets team really has it all. The addition of Rodgers finally gave them a proven quarterback to rely on. Dalvin Cook and Breece Hall make up arguably the best running back duo in the NFL. The offensive line should be better. Garrett Wilson is a legitimate star wideout and will now have a consistent QB with other weapons around him at his position. New York’s defense will continue to be dominant, led by Sauce Gardner. Now you add in the fact that they’re home underdogs in Rodgers’ first home start? Give me the Jets all day long. Allen is prone to turnovers and I think this Jets defense is going to force him into some bad situations.

Jets Should Cover Spread

Lucy Burdge: Jets +2 (-110,Unibet)

I love the Jets to cover the spread in this game. I think the Bills are overrated and Rodgers and his Jets are going to keep this game close, if not outright win. The Bills will be without Von Miller, while the Jets will be with their new quarterback, their hype train and the talent around Rodgers. I see the Jets starting off this season with a covered spread at home in primetime.

Look for Low Scoring from Bills, Jets

Kate Constable: Under 45.5 (-110, BetMGM)

All eyes have been on the Jets this offseason and for good reason. Rodgers is finally going to give the Jets the offense to match their defense. However, it’s his first game in a New York uniform and while he has a ton of familiarity with OC Nathaniel Hackett and this offensive system, I worry that it might take him a little while to connect with so many new receivers. Plus, Jets running back Breece Hall is coming off of an ACL injury and back-up Cook just joined the team a few weeks ago.

The Bills front seven is also very strong and should be able to pressure Rodgers, who is playing behind a weaker offensive line. Defensively for New York, it has one of the best units in the league and will certainly make life difficult for Allen and Co. Despite this game featuring two dynamic quarterbacks, I think both defenses step up big and keep this one low-scoring.
